Members of the Poor People’s Army march through Racine on the fourth day of their trek to Chicago. The national human rights group plans to reach Chicago in time to rally at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), which is scheduled to begin on August 19. The group has been marching on DNC and Republican National Convention (RNC) events for more than 20 years.
The group began their march in King Park in Milwaukee on Saturday, August 3 and made it to Racine on Tuesday, August 6, which is when these pictures were taken.
Poor People’s Army is a nonviolent army headquartered in Philadelphia. It was founded by, and continues to be led by, poor people.
