Jerome Keiz Vantosh Johnson, current student and 2008 Business Management program graduate, has expanded his personal horizons and grown as an individual. He donated a poster he drew to the Black Student Union.
His vision for the donation was simply put, “MATC.” This was a way of “getting through this time around.” By giving something so personal, it allowed him to expand his life to others around him.
Johnson may come off as a quiet young man, but his convictions are strong and to the point. There are symbols that are incorporated within his art, standing for certain things in his life. There’s a connection to his love of birds and personal influences, in the vision of his artistic eye.
Johnson’s views of the world around him have given him a reason, “of being blessed.” One of the symbols in the lower right, stands for, follow me at Vantosh. Ku Vi Puah is a Hmong saying that Johnson acquired in his life journey, which is also incorporated into the lower right of the art piece.
The art piece can be viewed at the Black Student Union room, M-320 at the downtown Milwaukee campus.
