Sustainability Summit rolls through area
Milwaukee’s annual Sustainability Summit took place March 4-6 at the Wisconsin Center. The summit welcomed leaders in business and energy to discuss the ever-evolving quest to save the planet through green initiatives.
This was the 12th iteration of the event and it carried the theme “Climate, Energy, Water, Food, Health.”
From the summit’s website, www.sustainabilitysummit.us: “Much of the world is now in the early stages of an historic transition. A transition from economies that accommodate far too much waste and inefficiency and depend too much on fossil fuels to systems that are much more conserving, efficient and sustainable.”
Summit speakers included Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and MATC President Dr. Vicki Martin. Will Allen, founder and CEO of Growing Power, made an appearance as well.
Actor and author Ed Begley, Jr. was a featured speaker on Thursday afternoon.
Community tours took place on Friday.
Students were able to register and attend the summit for free.
