Music department celebrates Black History Month in style

The C Auditorium at the downtown Milwaukee campus was host to a Black History Month concert on Feb. 27. The Performance Techniques were one of three acts to be showcased.
The downtown Milwaukee campus was treated to a concert sponsored by the Black Student Union. The concert was put on by the music department in honor of Black History Month, on Feb. 27 from noon to 1 p.m. in the C Auditorium.
The line up consisted of Percussion Ensemble, The Performance Techniques, and Jazz Ensemble. The Percussion Ensemble featured the African drums, which the school just received.
The Performance Techniques performed songs from Jimi Hendrix, D’Angelo, Anita Baker, Curtis Mayfield, and Mahalia Jackson.
The students were great and their hard work and dedication were impressive. Those in attendance were treated to a wonderful performance.
Steve Peplin led the last group on the stage and they played jazz standards. This was a great way to end a concert, with a little relaxing and smooth jazz.
