Robyn Wiggill, Opinions Editor
I heard about the Times in the spring of 2012, after hearing Adviser Bob Hanson talk to my class. I was tempted to join but unsure of my skills. The push came when my Journalism instructor promised extra credit for any published stories. After meeting with Bob and hearing more about the Times I was inspired. The day my first story was published, I felt pride for what I had achieved and excitement for what was to come. Many more stories have come since that first day. I have made many connections, found friends and even found a place where I fit in.
I appreciate every criticism I have received as they have guided me towards becoming a better story teller. The past year has been an exceptional year for me. I was recently promoted to Editor of the Oak Creek Campus. I have had two cover stories and was even featured in a cover story. In April I become the State Ambassador for MATC, which is a huge honor for me. By joining college organizations and volunteering I have become integrated into the college system. I have reached heights I never thought were possible, I have grown as a person and as a scholar. Not bad for a foreigner! (Yes, I am South African.)
That being said, I am ready for this year to be even better! I am looking forward to bonding with members of the Times ‘Dream Team’ and meeting new Times members. This year will be a big year for social networking and MATC Times 360 – so please join us and get involved!
