Milwaukee area Food Pantry Resources

    Dear Student Legal Clinic,

    I am currently not receiving food share at this time, but I am struggling to get enough food on the table for my children. Are there any places I can get assistance at?

    This is a problem for a lot of students. I sympathize with your situation. There is help for people in your situation. You can contact any of the following agencies:

    WIC — This a program for pregnant women, mothers with babies under 6 months and breastfeeding women of babies up to one year and their children up to age five. The WIC program gives out food vouchers. But you must meet certain income guidelines to qualify. For more information you can call 1-800-722-2295.

    Waukesha County Food Pantry — This is located at 1301 Sentry Dr. Hours are M-F, 1 – 3 p.m., 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, and 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, for Waukesha County Only, 262-542-5300. First, you must call for help on the crisis line: 262-547-3388.

    2-1-1 — This is a 24-hour helpline to find food pantries, shelter, meal sites, family resources, health and social services. Dial 2-1-1 (at pay phone, dial free: 1-866-211-3380).
