There’s something new at MATC, and it’s the new bookstore on the third floor in the Main Building of the Downtown Campus. So one might think, what’s the big deal?

Well, the big Wow factor is the fact that this particular store has what MATC students are looking for. Upon speaking with Beth Phillips, the Manager of the College Store, she said, “MATC was underserving the students, this way the store will be able to serve the needs of students by providing different supplies for the programs that they’re in.” These supplies include clothes and supplies, such as stethoscopes for the nursing program.

For the student that has financial aid, the store is there to help with the supplies that the student might need. The tentative hours for the bookstore are: 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Fridays. The reason that it is tentative is because the store is willing to change the hours. Phillips said, “If students want different, they can say different and it might get changed.”

She also said, “I strongly encourage student input, not just on the times of the store but everything, including what the bookstore has for the clothes and supplies.”

When asked about whether the store was only for students and if there was availability for online access, Phillips also said, “Faculty and staff are welcome, but otherwise it’s for the students that are currently enrolled at MATC, and MATC is currently working on the online part to better serve the students.” The setup of the store is nice, and the stuff in it is even nicer.
