Stormers Basketball Updates

    Women’s BasketballThe season began with a great start for the women’s basketball team. They played against Prairie State College on November 10 and won the game by the score of 70 to 51. The team then headed into a tournament, where they played against Highland Community College for the first time on November 14, and lost to Highland by 13 points.

    The team then redeemed itself, winning a game against Spoon River Community College, scoring 67-33. With the last three games, the team lost against Whitewater Junior Varsity, St. Catherine Junior Varsity and Joliet Community College, scoring: 58-67, 56-71 and 66-91, respectively.

    Even though the team did not win many of their games the coach, Brandon Dean, was very impressed with the games the girls have played and how strong the girls played. Although the schedule for this season is rough, the team has been able to work hard and continue to play strong.

    Coach Dean also mentioned that the assistant coaches, Matt Stamerjohn, Danielle Myszeewski and LaShondra Scott, did a great job at supporting the team and assisting Coach Dean. Even though the team did not win a lot, the team was still determined to play better and they are looking forward to the next game against UW-Whitewater JV.

    Men’s Basketball

    The men’s basketball team started the season with a good showing. They played against UW-Sheboygan on November 5 and won with a score of 71 to 58.

    They then played against Hibbing Community College, Prairie State College and Rocky County on November 8, November 10, and November 17, respectively.

    Although they had a great start, the team was not able to win those three games. In their recent game on November 19, the team was able to redeem itself by winning against UW-Fond du Lac, scoring 63 to 62. In their recent game on November 22, the team played against Joliet Community College.

    However, they lost against Joliet by 27 points (63-90). Although the team had a slow start, according to Coach Randy Casey, the team “seemed to play well in the second half of the game.” Even though the team did not win a lot of games, they were still determined to work hard and never quit.
