Stormers goalkeeper Dominique Lubsey is a freshman from Brookfield Central High School.

The goalie (keeper) is an important position in soccer, not just because he guards the net, but because he is the eyes of his team. He can see the entire field (pitch) and can help his teammates by letting them know about approaching opponents or openings in the field for a pass.
Dominique Lubsey, TV and Video Production student, is an all-around soccer player but has been honing his goalie skills since he was 12 years old.
“I enjoy being a keeper,” Lubsey said, “because it is a unique position in the sport, and not everyone can be or would even want to be a goalkeeper. While most people enjoy scoring goals, I enjoy the opposite, denying goals or seeing the disappointment on the faces of the players’ shots I’ve saved or blocked.”
Being a full-time student athlete can be challenging. Balancing schoolwork, practice, games and social life can be frustrating at times. Lubsey said that he gets his tenacity from his parents.
They are his inspiration because no matter how hard things get, they never give up.  In his free time, Lubsey likes to spend time with his family, workout, write and cook. He will be returning next semester to finish his degree and play soccer. Lubsey isn’t sure yet which direction his degree will take him, but soccer will always be a part of his life.
