Volunteers roll up their sleeves to plant flowers and clean up trash on Earth Day at MATC’s Walker’s Square.

What can people do to be more involved with community clean up? Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson said there’s a lot we all can do to clean up our neighborhoods. “Anybody can do this even when it’s not Earth Day. It can be any day, and anybody can make sure that their neighborhood and community is clean. All you gotta do is have the willingness to go out and make a difference, that’s it. If you want to have more people doing it, go talk to your neighbors and say ‘hey, I know you guys see the trash out here like I do, so why don’t we all make a difference?’”

Earth Day was a great experience at MATC’s Walker’s Square! People planted flowers and picked up trash. I also had an amazing opportunity to speak with the mayor, he was welcoming and cool to be around.
