Amberlea Childs, program manager for Kohl’s Conversations for a Cure, spoke to students about breast cancer at the MATC West Allis campus on Sept. 29.

Kohl’s Conversations for the Cure, brought to you through a partnership between Kohl’s Cares and the Southeast Wisconsin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, is an educational session where women can talk openly about breast cancer and the potential impact it can have on their lives.

Amberlea Childs, program manager for Kohl’s Conversations for a Cure, spoke to the audience at the West Allis campus on Sept. 29. Childs talked in depth on breast health facts such as knowing your risk, getting screened, knowing what is normal for you and making healthy lifestyle choices.

She also talked about the Komen Southeast Wisconsin Breast Fund that provides financial assistance for breast health services if you have a breast cancer diagnosis.  Childs also explained about who is eligible for the grant.

She also gave each attendee  informative brochures and a evaluation participation registration form to fill out; participants in the program will receive follow-up communication and information from Susan G. Komen Southeast Wisconsin and Komen grantees. The goal of these sessions is to encourage women to get regular breast health screenings, thereby increasing survival rates throughout southeast Wisconsin.
