The MATC softball program is looking forward to the future. Sophomore outfielder Mia Carani and freshman second baseman Amira Baldon were recognized for their outstanding performance and were honored in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Midwest Second Team. A historic benchmark for the players and the program.
This was the first time athletes from MATC were selected for the NFCA. This achievement strengthens the softball program as well as the players who are now able to access professional trainers, education, and other opportunities.
Both players had previously been named to the 2026 National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) Division II All-Region 4 Team for their standout seasons.
During her 2025-26 spring season, Carani had a batting average of .453, on-base percentage of .519, and a slugging percentage of .755 across 48 games. She ranked among Region 4’s leaders in doubles, and her seven home runs tied her for 14th in the region.
Meanwhile, Baldon struck out only four times out of 108 at-bats while hitting .435 with a .470 on-base percentage. She also piled up 47 hits, 40 RBIs, 15 doubles, 5 triples, and 7 home runs. Her .861 slugging percentage ranked her fourth in the region.
