The Stormers men’s basketball team continued the tradition of volunteering for the Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) on Sunday.
SOWI offers a year-round sports training and athletic competition in Olympic-type sports for both children and adults with intellectual disabilities. This allows them to obtain fitness, show courage, and share their talents with their fellow teammates, families, and the community.
This is the team’s 18th year attending the event at Vincent High School. The event ran from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Members of the team were scoreboard keepers, spotters, and scoreboard officials for the four Special Olympics Wisconsin basketball games.
Moments like these are what both the coaching staff and athletes at MATC represent: giving back to the community and making amazing and heartwarming memories.
