Are you looking for a job that you can be trained for in only 10 weeks and can pay as much as $80,000 a year? Well, then you should look into the new Truck Driving program, at the Oak Creek campus.
MATC is one of only four training centers in the state. Instructors Piotr “Peter” Jelen and Dan Zdrojewski have been developing and expanding the training.
According to Zdrojewski, there will be simulators for students to practice on by next semester.
This intense 13-credit program began last fall. Every student, which has completed the program, has received their technical diploma, Commercial Driver’s License, and ALL have been employed as truck drivers. Students also have the opportunity to attain Class A or B CDL (Commercial Driver’s License.)
Students learn everything from vehicle control skills and strategies like shifting, backing and docking, to accident prevention procedures like skid control, hazard awareness and emergency maneuvers. Cargo management and knowledge of special rules of the road for big rigs are covered as well.
“Students participate in a special class; practicing behind the wheel, skid control on an actual skid pad,” according to Zdrojewski. This class provides a special certificate of completion in driver training in decision driving, proper braking techniques, antilock brake systems, evasive driving maneuvers, off-road recovery techniques, skid control and reaction time.
There are a few requirements for admission to the program: High school diploma or GED, age 18 years or older, valid driver’s license (Class D), acceptable driving record, and a Department of Transportation medical exam and drug test.
A previous student had called his CDL his golden ticket. Zdrojewski said, “You can go anywhere when you have it as long as you take care of it.” If you want to get your “golden ticket” take a look at this great new opportunity.

You can go anywhere when you have it as long as you take care of it.
