“Some of the best things in life are free,” is not just a quote, but a reality here at MATC.
An opportunity to enjoy a weekend of shouting, anticipation, laughter and entertainment at Alverno College took place on Saturday, Feb. 21. The event was in support of the Play4Kay Foundation. In addition to the festivities our Stormers provided, the Milwaukee Bucks Rim Rockers were in the house!
“Those Rim Rockers were high-flying and spectacular with all those flips and bionic dunks!” Jade Cosby, Television and Video Production student, said.
It was an awesome high- jumping, trampoline stunting, above-the-rim hand standing, self-dunking display.
Along with spectacular acrobatic feats, the Rim Rockers provided the crowd with basketballs and T-shirts, courtesy of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Play4Kay is a Kay Yow Cancer Fund initiative that allows a nation of coaches to raise awareness and funds for cancer research on the court and across campuses.
Coach Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University women’s basketball coach, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, and passed away on Jan. 24, 2009, after facing three bouts with the disease. With the creation of the fund, Coach Yow hoped to raise money to further cutting-edge research to allow more cancer patients to have access to experimental drugs and clinical trials that will aid and assist in a cure.
