On a warm September morning, I felt transported back in time when I visited Best Place Coffee on 9th and Juneau.

First, it was a beautiful fall day and the walk was just a few blocks from MATC. I was amazed because the building looks like a castle. A friend got a cappuccino, which she really enjoyed. I tried something new and ordered an espresso tonic. The tonic was sparkly and refreshing, but not my perfect blend. However, I can recommend the cookie butter and gingersnap latte, they’re so delicious!

The scenery inside the cafe consists of beautiful statues and artwork. A statue of Captain Frederick Pabst greets you in the patio area. You’re probably familiar with the Pabst name because of the Pabst Theater, Pabst Beer and the Pabst Brewery. The employees say he’s the reason the building and the area around it exist and that the cafe used to be an office for secretaries. The business is located in the Brewery District, a mixed-use space with apartments, hotels, restaurants and taverns on the former Pabst Brewing Company campus.

While my friend and I journeyed through Best Place Coffee & Spirits, we also came upon a lovely wedding and theater room, which has a mystical, romantic vibe. It was indeed a Shakespearian dream.
