The Cincinnati Reds weren’t intimidated by the National League Cy Young frontrunner pulling off a convincing victory Thursday afternoon at American Family Field. The Reds jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st with a solo home run by rookie SS Sal Stewart. They padded their lead in the top of 4 starting with an RBI single by Noelvi Marte scoring JJ Bleday. Jose Trevino smacked a 3 run homer later in the inning putting Cincinnati on top 5-0.
The Brewers began chipping away at the lead with a solo homer by Garrett Mitchell in the 5th. Brice Turang doubled home Jackson Churio in the bottom of the 6th to make it a 5-2 game. TJ Friedl added a solo homer and an RBI single giving the Reds a comfortable 7-2 lead.
Chase Burns brought home the win for the Reds. He went 6 innings giving up 4 hits and 2 earned runs with 4 strikeouts. The Brewers hit the road for a 10 day, 11 game stretch before the All Star break.
