After years of uncertainty, the Giannis Antetokounmpo era has ended in Milwaukee. The Bucks have traded Giannis and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat for Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks, a second round pick, and a pick swap. The Boston Celtics were also in discussions, offering a trade package that included NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, but Milwaukee went with the trade that offered more youth and draft capital.
Antetokounmpo leaves Milwaukee as the all-time leader in points, rebounds, assists, blocks, games played, and minutes played. He’s a 2X NBA MVP, Champion and Finals MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player, and a 10x All-Star. Outside of all the accolades, Giannis will be remembered for his dedication to Milwaukee and for turning around the Bucks franchise that hadn’t won a championship since 1972. The City of Milwaukee is a better place because of Giannis Antetokounmpo.
