And the winners are…everybody!

    The above course is under the umbrella of the visual communications program, and this semester the final projects turned into a YouTube video contest.

    According to instructor David Thomas, tracking the number of views per video for a contest was challenging. “We tried a combination of keywords and getting students and clients to use their social networks.”

    The clients that Thomas is referring to are the, “MATC departments that got a free promotional video.”

    One of the unique aspects of the contest was not necessarily to produce a winner.

    By posting the videos online, the competition could also be a form of social media experimentation and working together in teams.

    The additional good news is that this project will continue and evolve for future semesters.

    Thomas mentioned that not only will You Tube continue to be incorporated in the classroom, but additional ideas about connecting with the MATC student organizations and the students themselves will also be brain stormed.
