On Saturday, the men’s and women’s basketball teams participated in an annual nationwide initiative to help the American Cancer Society.
Coaches vs. Cancer
The Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week initiative unites coaches across the country to raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer. The event, held from January 28 to February 2, also promotes the American Cancer Society as a source of hope and inspiration for those battling cancer. Throughout the week, coaches wore sneakers with their game attire as a visible show of support for the American Cancer Society and its fight against cancer.
The Coaches vs Cancer program is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. MATC Assistant Athletic Director Travis Mrozek says all coaches from both the men’s and women’s programs continue to be part of the initiative. “Although our platform is smaller than some of the big-time programs, we are glad to do what we can to help raise awareness for the American Cancer Society,” Mrozek said.
Since 1993, the Coaches vs. Cancer program has raised over $179 million for the American Cancer Society. Click here for more information.
