Sophomores Jayden Hackett, Raydelh Boutin, and Noah Daniels were all honored on the NJCAA Region 4 All-Region Team.
Jayden Hackett
Hackett’s selection as a First Team Honoree, All-American, and Midwest District A Player of the Year showcases his outstanding season in his sophomore year. The Green Bay native proved himself as one of the most productive and efficient shooters in all of NJCAA Division II. Hackett transferred from Delta College, where he earned numerous conference and All-Region honors. Last year, he averaged 16.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists, and finished his freshman year with Delta, 11-17. This season with the Stormers, Hackett has scored 576 points with 5.6 rebounds, 72 assists, 41 steals, and 13 blocks, finishing the season 31-5.
“All I can do is just give thanks to God; he sees all of the hard work that I put in, and I think this is just a reward for him,” Hackett said. He continued, “It’s just a daily grind, it’s one of those things where you’ve got to work at it whether you feel like doing it or not. Having that mental discipline to do it every day and do it consistently at a high level, that’s what got me to this point.”
Raydelh Boutin
The New Jersey native arrived at MATC after a strong season at Raritan Valley Community College, where he helped lead his team to a Region Championship and an appearance in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. Boutin averaged 12.2 points per game, added 47 steals, and nearly pulled four rebounds per game.
Boutin discussed adjusting to playing point guard, explaining that he was used to being primarily a scorer. “Playing under Coach Casey, he’s definitely a great point guard coach. He taught me a lot about reading defenses and how to pass the ball in different ways,” he says. Boutin continued, “ It opened my game a lot. At first, I was one-dimensional; now I can score, facilitate, and play defense.”
Noah Daniels
Returning sophomore Noah Daniels became one of MATC’s most dependable scoring options this season. He appeared in 32 games with 28 starts, averaging 12.7 points per game and knocking down 64 three-pointers. Daniels also added 4.0 rebounds per game, along with 84 assists, 44 steals, 21 blocks, and 44 turnovers.
“I’m definitely grateful; all glory to God, for real, because I didn’t think I was even going to play this year,” Daniels said. He added that being able to come out and contribute to the team has been a true blessing.
Men’s basketball head coach Randy Casey talked about how proud he is of all three sophomores and their accomplishments. “I’m incredibly proud of the dedication and passion they bring to their team every day. Jayden, Raydelh, and Noah have each played major roles in our success this season.” Casey continued, “Having three players earn All-Region Honors is special; it reflects the strength of our entire roster, not just the individuals being recognized.”
