Milwaukee Area Technical College joined allies across the nation to kick off Pride Month. This yearly celebration commemorates the Stonewall Uprising that took place in New York City in 1969. What started as a protest over violent police raids has turned into a yearly celebration that promotes community, equality, and affirmation of identity. Milwaukee area celebrations are highlighted by PrideFest Milwaukee which runs June 4-6 at Henry Maier Festival Park and the Milwaukee Pride Parade which happens June 7th at 2:00pm in the Walker’s Point neighborhood.
