Throughout April, institutions across the U.S. observed National Arab American Heritage Month, honoring the history and cultural contributions of more than 3.7 million Arab Americans. MATC embraced this year’s theme, “Many Voices, One Community,” with a series of engaging events held across the college.
The cornerstone event, “Arab Americans Beyond Invisibility and Stereotypes,” featured a keynote address by Dr. Nadine Naber. An acclaimed author, scholar, UIC professor, and UN expert, Naber is widely recognized for her advocacy in liberation movements for diverse communities. The April 15 session concluded with a Q&A and a lunch featuring authentic Arab American cuisine. Other month-long highlights included a Dabkah dance tutorial and a “Henna and Chai” social.
